In consultation with the Northwestern Health Unit, visitor restrictions are returning to normal at Kenora’s Pinecrest Home for the Aged after their most recent COVID-19 outbreak.

The outbreak was first reported on January 4 after three residents tested positive for the illness. It grew to eight residents by January 9, with the majority of affected residents in Unit #3 and one resident in Unit #2.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their hard work and diligence during the outbreak,” wrote Pinecrest leadership, in a prepared release. “We would also like to thank the families and essential caregivers for their support and understanding during the outbreak.”

This was Pinecrest’s first COVID-19 outbreak of 2023. The facility declared six outbreaks in 2022.

All visitors are reminded that if you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with someone who is unwell, please refrain from visiting the home or any of its residents.
