Athletes with the Dryden Eagles and Fort Frances Muskies are representing northwestern Ontario this week at OFSAA.

The Dryden High School Eagles girls’ hockey team is in Stratford while the Fort Frances Muskies boys’ hockey team is in St. Catharines competing for the all-provincial championships.

The Eagles took on the #2 seeded Napanee this morning and the game ended with a 3-3 tie, as there’s no overtime in Round Robin play.  Later, Dryden will be up against St. Mikes.

The Muskies won their first game against Roland Michener earlier today. The Muskies will be up against St. Francis High School later this afternoon.

It’s the first time the tournament’s been held since 2019 and it runs until March 23.

“Thank you to everyone who helped get us here today! Coaches, parents, friends, team members, and everyone in our amazing community this wouldn’t have been possible without you all! That’s what we call a team effort!” wrote the Eagles, on social media.

The Eagles held a variety of community fundraisers to help offset the costs of the trip throughout the month, including an auction and dinner at the Royal Canadian Legion, a bottle drive, a Karaoke night and more.
