The Northwestern Health Unit has reported 30 new cases of COVID-19, as the active case count in the region hits 197.

Six new cases are in the Dryden Health Hub, 14 are in the Kenora Health Hub, two are in the Red Lake Health Hub and eight are in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub.

There are currently four people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the region.

Follow up with the persons involved and their contacts have started according to protocol. Anyone who is identified as a contact for these cases will be contacted directly.

NWHU recommends that everyone, including those who have been vaccinated, assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face.
