Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and the Kenora OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), have charged two accused with drug and weapons charges.

On Thursday, November 7, 2019 at approximately 1:00 am, police stopped a vehicle in the north side of Kenora for a Highway Traffic Act violation. Upon speaking to the driver, the investigation led to the arrest and search of the vehicle. The driver and passenger were arrested at the scene. 

Police seized 44 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia items used in the drug trafficking trade. There was also a firearm and other weapons seized in the investigation. The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $12,000.

As a result of the investigation the following people have been charged and held in custody pending a bail hearing:

Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Section 91(1) Criminal Code (CC)

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Section 92(1) CC

Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Section 95 (a) CC

Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Section 88 CC

Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Section 86 (1) CC

Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2 , Section 117.01 CC

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs, Section 5(2) CDSA

WETENDORF held for bail court in Kenora on Thursday, November 7, 2019.

Leigha NAULT, age 18 from Kenora has been charged with:

Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Section 91(1) CC

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Section 92(1) CC

Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Section 95(a)

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Section 88 CC

Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Section 86(1) CC

NAULT to appear in Kenora court on December 5, 2019 to answer to th e charges.
