Parents are getting a letter from the school board. As a strike deadline looms Monday, the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board says their elementary schools will be open, as usual.

Field trips, extra-curricular activities and sports are expected to continue

The letter notes talks are ongoing, and the actions by elementary teachers are expected to include the following:

- not attending Ministry of Education meetings
- not performing duties related to EQAO standardized provincial testing

- not participating in provincial or local meetings.

In the letter, the school board says its relationship with the elementary teachers union 'remains strong,' and they're continuing to work towards a fair agreement.
