FedNOR Funding for Tourism Projects

Several tourist initiatives in northwestern Ontario are getting a helping hand from FedNOR.

The federal government is issuing cheques totalling 4.5 million dollars to support 27 tourism projects across northwestern Ontario.

Lac Seul First Nation will receive $500,000 to create a Tourism Asset Development Plan and modernize four tourism infrastructure sites.

Rod & Reel Resort in Sioux Narrows will use a $500,000 loan to replace a small, older cabin with a new one on Lake of the Woods.

Kenora Chiefs Advisory is getting $317,889 to upgrade an existing building at its Tourism Cultural and Recreational Centre.

Lac Seul Resort is winterizing four cabins and improving docks with a $100,000 grant.

Knobby’s Fly-In Camps in Sioux Lookout will use $100,000 on similar infrastructure and docking upgrades.

Redden’s Camp near Kenora is using $100,000 to build housing for its staff.

Sturgeon Lake Lodge near Ignace has received $100,000 to upgrade its facilities.

Oak Lake Lodge is receiving $100,000 for a solar energy project and an expansion of its docks.

Clark’s Northern Lights Outpost in Vermilion Bay will use $89,059 to construct a cabin, a multi-use deck, and a floating dock.

The Waterfront Regeneration Trust Corporation is receiving $77,000 to identify and map the routes of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail which runs between Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. Signage will also be purchased.

The Township of Pickle Lake is getting $75,569 to upgrade the access road and improve the parking lot at its downtown waterfront.

Temple Bay Lodge at Eagle River is remodelling and upgrading cabins with a grant of $67,500.

Lac Seul’s Wilderness Resort will put $50,000 toward the construction of an eight-bed, all-season cabin.

Helliars Resort is getting $50,000 to repair the roof of its main lodge and purchase an energy-efficient diesel generator for its facilities on Sabaskong Bay.

Vista Lake Outfitters at Savant Lake will winterize five cabins with a $50,000 grant.

Gold Pines Camp has $48,277 to upgrade its fishing lodge on Lac Seul.

Whiskey Jack Lodge located at Savant Lake is using $17,150 to renovate the facility and add a fire suppression system.
