The City of Kenora echoed the Fire Chief's words in social media post Sunday evening saying, "the Tunnel Island walking trails and parking lot is closed until further notice."

"An incident involving an intermodal train occurred this evening in Kenora," said a spokesperson for Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) in an email to KenoraOnline.

"Crews and equipment are responding. There are no public safety concerns. CP will be utilizing the Tunnel Island walking trail access. CP regrets the inconvenience this may cause," noted the spokesperson.
