This past week of great weather might have been great for those wanting to spend time outdoors.
However on the flip side, it does mean the fire hazard across the region has increased.
Aside from a pair of small patches of moderate hazard in the far north, much of the region sits at a high or extreme hazard.
It comes amid warm dry conditions which are expected to last through the weekend and into the start of next week.
Currently there are six fires burning in the region, focused in the Kenora, Red Lake or Sioux Lookout areas.
They include three new fires:
Kenora 11, size 0.1 hectares, status under control
Sioux Lookout 5 size 0.2 hectares, status under control
Red Lake 5 size 691.4 hectares, status being observed
Other active fires include:
Red Lake 2 size 0.1 hectares, status under control
Red Lake 3 size 9.5 hectares, status being held
Red Lake 4 size 1.9 hectares, status under control
No restricted fire zone has been called just yet but ministry officials are reminding residents and visitors to be cautious when having a campfire or burning brush.
