Officials with the City of Dryden will be taking another look at the community’s fire service tonight, after the Loomex Group’s Community Risk Assessment last month.
Councillor Bryan Tardiff has filed two Notice of Motions for tonight’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
He’s proposing creating a working committee to investigate the feasibility of a firefighter training, development and certification facility in the community, and getting accredited under the Superior Tanker Shuttle Services program – which should help lower municipal insurance rates.
Dryden councillors will be looking at a request for support from the Township of Essex related to tax sales, which already has the support of City Treasurer Steven Lansdell-Roll.
They’ll also be discussing throwing their support behind a request from the Association of Ontario Roads Supervisors about a new fee proposed by Enbridge Gas, which would affect municipalities’ bottom lines.
A delegation will also be made regarding an environmental impact assessment at 107 and 109 Edgewater Drive, to move towards rezoning for a 4-plex to be built.
Elsewhere, Mayor Jack Harrison’s report from the board of the Kenora District Home for the Aged states Administrator and CEO Kevin Queen will be retiring in June and the board is looking for his replacement.
As well, Harrison notes the Ministry of Long-Term Care is looking to remove asymptomatic COVID-19 testing as a requirement for staff and visitors, outdoor masking requirements to be removed, the removal of the one visitor per resident policy and more.
