A GoFundMe has been created for two residents who passed away in last week’s fire on 18th Avenue North.

Karla and Jim Rainier Acosta have been identified as the two victims. The two worked as nurses with the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

The fundraising campaign will help cover the cost of their funeral expenses in Canada, as well as their repatriation and final arrangements in the Philippines.

As of the time of writing, the campaign has raised $11,000 of its $25,000 goal.

The Kenora Fire and Emergency Service responded to the fully-developed fire after 2 a.m. on May 25, and the Office of the Fire Marshall continues to investigate the scene.

Anyone with any information on the fire is asked to call the OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122.
