With heavy hearts we are saddened to share the passing of Gordon Carl Pernsky on January 11 2023, at his home at the age of 68. He was born in Kenora, ON, on January 05, 1955.

He joins and was predeceased by his parents Peter and Katherine Pernsky, his sister Bernice Pernsky and many aunts and uncles who were very special to him and him, to them.

He is survived by his siblings Walter (Tammy) Pernsky and Bill Pernsky. Nieces, Angie Fraser, Lacey-Jo, (Jeremy) Pernsky, Katie and Nikki Pernsky and nephews Jarrod Pernsky and Stephen (Eileen) Lindgren. Great nieces Madison and Mackenzie, Hailey and Nadia, and great nephews Tesla and Lincoln as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gord’s siblings and close cousins have many great childhood memories of him. He was a gentle soul and was kind to children and animals but also very mischievous in his younger years.  He loved his fur bearing friends very much and was very dedicated to them. He was known by Gordie or Porky to those close to him.

There was strong Ukrainian heritage in the household when Gord was growing up. Though he could not speak the language, he was proud of his heritage and truly enjoyed his mom’s delicious Ukrainian cooking

Spending most of his working years as a machine operator he was particularly proud of his work as a dozer operator. He was one of the best. He worked for Ed’s Landscaping and various construction companies over the years. In his early years, he worked at the Mattabi Mine in Ignace ON. Very much like his father, Gord was an avid reader. He immersed himself in the world of literacy both fiction and non-fiction. He was an outdoorsman and fishing was his sport.

Gord was a free spirit and lived his life on his own terms. He had a small circle of friends whom he enjoyed life to the fullest with. He lived and died on his own terms and we couldn’t ask anything more for him. It was what he wanted and he did it his way.

The family would like to thank the OPP for their compassion. Diane McLeod for being there for Gord and Hailey McLeod for checking in on him. It is very much appreciated. You were great friends to him. We are grateful.

Cheers to you Gord…Rest easy.. you are loved and missed by all. Say hi to Mom, Pop and Toots.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Its a Dog’s Life or the Cat shelter would be greatly appreciated.
