Bradley 'Junior' Kirkrude has been missing since early October, and his grandmother, Martha Blight, has been helping with the search.
"All over," she says with exasperation. "They even have divers out there. I'm hoping for more searchers to help."
Treaty 3 Elder Peter White of Naotkamegwanning says he's known the family for more than 30 years, and he's hoping more can help with the search.
"When we're out in the bush, it's very hard terrain. We have to keep 15 to 20 feet away from each other," he says.
The OPP has sent resources to assist with the search including:
- officers from the Rainy River District OPP Crime Unit,
- the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team,
- the Forensic Identification Services Unit and
- the Treaty Three Police Service under the direction of Det. S/Sergeant Serge Acay of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
Elders have conducted ceremonies, in an effort to narrow the area of the search. Searchers from Big Island are inviting members of the public to assist.
