A drive by graduation celebration is taking place tonight in Kenora. Graduating students from both Beaver Brae and St. Thomas Aquinas will be lined up along the greenbelt on the Harbourfront this evening for the Drive-By Celebration.

Graduates from both classes will be lined up alphabetically along the greenbelt, and are encouraged to bring their graduation lawn signs and wear whatever they choose to represent themselves. Although, school colours would be preferred.

Kiera Belair is one of the organizers, she talked about what families and friends need to know.

"We're hoping people are just going to drive by, whether they come from the Harbourfront end or the Keewatin end. Just drive by and and wish the grads well. Everyone will be lined up alphabetically, so hopefully parents and grandparents will have an idea of where their grad will be," she said.

Graduates with a last name starting with the letters M to Z are asked to arrive at 6:15 p.m. Those with a last name beginning with the letters A to L are asked to arrive at 6:30 p.m.

There will be parent volunteers there to direct the grads and make sure everyone adheres to the social distancing guidelines

Parking is available at 7 Gens, the large Harbourfront parking lot as well as Main Street. Grads are encouraged to get dropped off, if possible.

Anyone wanting to drive by and wish the grads well, can begin at 7:00 p.m.

Belair emphasizes that cars are not allowed to stop, and the OPP will be present to enforce social distancing measures. You may drive slowly, as long as you are not holding up traffic.
