The Ministry of Transportation has shut down two major highways due to today’s snowstorm.
The MTO says Highway 17 at Highway 105 is closed in both directions due to the weather, shutting down access to Red Lake from Vermilion Bay. Traffic control is in place.
Highway 599 is also fully closed from the Highway 17 junction, closing access to Sioux Lookout.
Residents are asked to use extreme caution and to avoid travel if at all possible.
