Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP Kevin Holland is excited about his new role as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Northern Development and the Minister of Indigenous Affairs.
Holland moves from his former post as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
He now teams with Kenora-Rainy River Greg Rickford, the Minister of both portfolios.
“We have two members now from Northwestern Ontario that are on that file for Northern Development and being able to work with Greg. We can put our heads together and make sure that we’re doing what we need to be doing,” says Holland.
Holland says with mining growing, the two portfolios become very important in helping to expand the opportunities for the north.
“These two files are going to be really important to make sure that we take full advantage and be able to move the opportunities presented in the mining sector forward. Yeah, we have a good opportunity here.”
Holland says enjoyed his time as the Parliamentary Assistant for Municipal Affairs and Housing, feeling it was a good fit coming into provincial politics.
Holland was the mayor of Conmee prior to his election in last June’s provincial election.
