Donna Wallace, chair of Kenora's hospital foundation, says they're already a quarter of the way to reaching their goal. They're hoping to replace their digital imaging equipment, in order to improve their ability to diagnose patients.
"We have raised 25 per cent so far of the $1.2 million, and hopefully in the end it'll be a million," she said.
Since the foundation's been in talks with manufacturers, they've been optimistic the final price tag might be lower than the original estimate.
Wallace added the foundation's optimistic about exceeding their goal, which is to raise $450,000 for the hospital.
Over the last year, their fundraisers have been quite successful. For example:
Tree of Life - $50,000
Golf tournament - $50,000
Boobie Nights - $32,500
Lifesavers dinner & auction - $107,000
