Mike Sveinson of the Dryden Ice Dogs says they're looking forward to playing games against the Kenora Thistles, even if it does pit junior teams against players under 18.

"It's a win-win," he said in a recent interview.

"There's no negatives. Of all years, when there's an opportunity for the under-18 guys to skate against under-21 guys this is it, because there's no body contact."

After hosting the Lakers for a pair of games over the last two weeks, Kenora's next games will be against Red Lake, when then Miners come for a visit next month.

Mike Sveinson of the Dryden Ice Dogs talks about their new schedule, featuring the AAA Kenora Thistles.

"I certainly didn't want to be part of watching 20-year-old men hitting 15-year-olds," Sveinson emphasized.

"That's not something anyone wants to see at this point. We do have a stipulation in Ontario hockey where there is no hitting allowed. That'll level the playing field a little bit," he continued.

After hosting the Lakers from Fort Frances earlier this month, the Red Lake Miners come for a visit to the Thistle Arena next month.
