There has been just over $38 million in building permits issued so far this year.
That’s $11 million more than the same period last year.
Mayor Andrew Poirier says that includes a housing project behind Evergreen School.
“The housing development up on Brinkman Road was something that was discussed and we were aware of in the previous term of council, so it’s just coming to fruition now,” says Poirier.
Poirier adds there are a number of other projects are just coming on line now.
“It’s takes time from an idea to construction and going through all the zoning, and planning issues, and building permit issues, site plan control. We’re starting to see fruits of that labour of a lot of work, by a lot of staff at the city.”
There have been 13 applications for subdivisions, which could create 87 more building lots in the city.
