James (Kirk) Morgan
February 21, 1957 – February 13, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kirk.
Kirk attended Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf in Belleville, Ontario at the age of 5 years old. He graduated and resided at home in Kenora, Ontario. He was very active in the Special Olympics, which he was awarded many medals for swimming. Kirk was hired at the Town of Kenora with Jim Robson’s crew. He took great pride in his work on many projects within the town such as the Harbourfront and downtown improvements – the red brick sidewalks being his specialty. He continued at the town until his accident in 2001.
Kirk enjoyed life to the fullest. Fishing, hunting, and seeing wildlife were some of his favourite activities. He loved the company of his family as well as friends at Kingdom Hall and within the Sign Language community.
Kirk suffered a stroke in late 2021 and subsequently moved into Pinecrest Home. He was often seen walking in the area with his mom. He leaves to mourn his mother Sadie, brother Doug, Aunt Devetta (Ralph) who was raised like his older sister, cousins Howard, Carson, Brenda (Jerome), nephews Jake (Jill), Luke (Becca), Zeke (Morgan), Scott (Taylor), niece Haelee (Jed), extended family Judy, Lizanne, and many great nieces and nephews.
Kirk is predeceased by his uncle Ron Morgan, grandmother Evelyn Sharpin (Willy), father Jim Morgan, cousin Ron Morgan, sister Judy Garrow, sister-in-law Sherri Morgan, and aunt Mildred Sharpin.
Cremation will take place and a service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Pinecrest home and Lake of the Woods District Hospital for their exceptional care.
