The Jets scored early then held on for a 1-0 victory over Phoenix last night at the MTS Centre. Bryan Little showed some soft hands as he collected the rebound from Evander Kane and put it past Mike Smith for the game-winner.

Ondre Pavelec earned the shutout with some spectacular work. The Jets host the Devils Saturday night, as their home stand continues.

After booing him, Winnipeg fans decided to give their former first-round draft pick Shane Doan a bit of a break. Doan was drafted in '95, but left with the original Jets a year later.

It was his first trip back and he expected a rowdy welcome, before the game even began. However, the fans showed some good sportsmanship during a break in the action, when his picture was shown on the big screen and he was given a warm welcome.

In Washington, the only way Alex Ovechkin got on the scoresheet was through a penalty, as the Penguins beat the Caps 2-1. In the end, Sidney Crosby didn't get a point, either, as the match-up of the game's two big stars didn't feature the offensive fireworks one might expect.

Later tonight:
Detroit's at Buffalo,
Devils at the Wild,
Flyers at Anaheim and
Columbus at Edmonton
