The Winnipeg Jets playoff drive stalled on Thursday night in Vancouver. Sammy Pahlsson scored the winner with 5:43 remaining in the third period as the Canucks edged Winnipeg 3-2. Kyle Wellwood and Blake Wheeler did the goal scoring for the Jets (32-28-8) who lost in regulation for just the second time in 10 games. Winnipeg goaltender Ondrej Pavelec faced 45 shots. Vancouver netminder Cory Schneider stopped 30 shots. The Jets, who face the Flames in Calgary tonight, remain two points behind the Southeast Division leading Florida Panthers who lost 5-0 to Philadelphia. The Washington Capitals have caught Winnipeg for the eighth and final playoff spot in the NHL's Eastern Conference. The Caps, who have a game in hand on the Jets, edged Tampa Bay 3-2 in overtime.
