Sens shut the door on Jets last night at MTS

Daniel Alfredsson put a dagger into the hearts of Jets fans last night, as he scored with 2:54 remaining in the third period. Milan Michalek added the empty-netter with 34 seconds left for a 6-4 final, as Winnipeg fell six points off the pace for a playoff spot with just six games remaining.

In order to gain ground on the "Washington Capitals, who sit in eighth place, the Jets have to go into Madison Square Gardens and get points from the Rangers. New York currently leads the Eastern Conference with 101 points, compared with 78 for Winnipeg.

The Rangers are also 26-10-2 at home, while Winnipeg's has just 12 wins in 37 starts on the road. The Jets remaining games are in Carolina against the Hurricanes Friday and Tampa Saturday, before moving on to meet the Panthers Tuesday and the Islanders Thursday.

Their last home game is set for Saturday, April 7, when they'll host the Lightning.
