The Kenora Catholic District School Board is recognizing the efforts of their students and every single one of their staff members throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

During a virtual board meeting earlier this week, Director of Education Derek Haime revealed that each KCDSB school and each KCDSB staff member, including teachers, support staff and administrators, will be receiving a Director’s Award of Excellence to recognize their work and dedication over the last few months.

“This school year has been anything but typical, and I am incredibly proud of our students, staff and families for their extraordinary efforts,” said Haime, in a prepared release.

“I am inspired by the tremendous faith, creativity, compassion and determination I have seen from all members of our school board during this turbulent time.”

"I have witnessed generosity of spirit, small and large acts of kindness, moments of grace and a steadfast commitment to student achievement and well-being.”

“This certainly is a challenging time, and I’m proud of the sacrifices people are making to help us meet this moment by thinking and acting anew.”

The Director’s Award of Excellence will also be given to staff within the Catholic Education Centre.
