The Kenora District Services Board is looking at innovative ways to add more affordable housing.
Chief Administrative Officer Henry Wall is interested in the lower building costs associated with the use of shipping containers. He's also looking at issuing bonds or creating partners with private investors.
The service board will be looking to replace units in Hudson, Minaki and Dinorwic, which have high vacancy rates.
The service board met yesterday for one of the monthly meetings.
