After a courageous battle, it is with profound sadness to announce the passing of our beloved Kelvin Christopher Kelly surrounded by family at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora. Kelvin was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

He was predeceased by his parents Edward Kelly Sr. and Dorothy Kelly (nee Yerxa), brother Edward Kelly Jr., baby son Everett Kelly-Major, sister-in-law Rose Kelly, nephews Edward Nathan White, Russel Kelly, and Shane Kelly, nieces Rhonda Kelly and Kelli Morrison.

Very dear to his heart, he leaves to mourn his two beautiful princesses Kelaysia and Azeala (mother Kelly Major), his brothers Daniel, Vince (Diane), Duane (Betty), Derek (April), Clarence, and Michael Pie, Ron Kelly Jr (Noonie) best buddy brother his sisters Shirley (Tom), Sharon, Sheila (Riel), and Ramona (Mick) and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many relatives from Couchiching.

Kelvin grew up in Onigaming First Nation. Upon graduating from high school, he worked numerous jobs before pursuing his post-secondary education in Thunder Bay.  As a lifelong learner, his choice of reading material was often mathematical and engineering textbooks. Kelvin was known to promote education to the younger generation and enjoyed working as the post-secondary education counselor for his community. He encouraged many of his young family and community members to pursue their goals.

Kelvin shared a passion for music and was often seen tuning up his guitar and playing for friends and family.  His music buddies could always count on him to perform classic rock songs.  Everyone will cherish their memories of attending concerts with him.  A quiet, humble and kind man, Kelvin was loved by so many and the community feels a great loss.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Thunder Bay District Hospital as well as the staff at Lake of the Woods District Hospital and Ojibways of Onigaming for their compassion and caring.

A wake service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Onigaming School Gymnasium. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 10:00 am at Onigaming School Gymnasium with Ronald Indian-Mandamin officiating, burial will follow at Onigaming First Nation Cemetery.
