Despite competing in a much tougher division this year, the Kenora All Star cheer and dance senior cheer team brought home the bronze medal.

The team of 19 girls competed at the Powerade Centre in Brampton over the weekend. This year they competed in the All Star division level 4.2. Head coach Deb Allan said they were expecting much tougher competition because they're competing against club teams.

"You're going against other clubs that train in facilities with lots of equipment that helps them out. But our girls have been training hard for many years," she said.

So after putting on two performances on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, their hard work paid off and they earned the bronze medal.

The next day the girls were able to practice in one of the best cheer gyms in Canada alongside their choreographer. Allan said it's an excellent time for the girls to try new things and really work on their skills for next year.

Both the senior and junior All Star teams will have their final performance of the season on Thursday night as guests at the Kenora Aerialettes year-end show. That starts at 6:30 at Beaver Brae.
