The manager of financial services for the Kenora Catholic District School Board, Alison Smith, says provincial agreements contributed to a slight shortfall of $40,000 on an annual budget of $27 million.

The Kenora Catholic District School Board is reporting a small deficit. Despite the shortfall, Alison Smith is the manager of financial services, and she says the board is still on track.

"We do have a bit of a shortfall of about $40,000. It's still within the one per cent compliance for the ministry (of education). We have had steady enrolment from the spring until Oct. 31. There haven't been too many changes. So, we're in a good position moving forward," she said.

The board's overall budget is about $27 million. Smith adds the source of the shortfall is provincial agreements, which called for some salary increases.
