Grinder pump owners in Kenora may have to pay a fee, if their pump needs work. Councillors are looking at a flat fee of $250, if city staff are called in.
It would be the same if the grinder pump needs fixing, or needs replacing. Council's trying to clean up agreements with owners, some of them predate amalgamation in 2000.
Grinder pumps were installed in neighbourhoods to help the flow of effluent in the city's sewer system, in cases where gravity feed wasn't enough. During the committee of the whole meeting, staff told council they weren't able to find all the agreements with grinder pump owners, which made it more difficult to find a resolution to the issue.
