Six members of the Kenora Skating Academy have qualified for the Ontario Provincial Championships.
Avery Desjarlais, Claire Gauthier, Emma Godbout, Lauren Sharp, Sydney Merlino and Waverley Wiebe finished in in the top 25 in the province in their particular categories.
Coach Roxanne Daignault says this is the most they’ve ever qualified for the provincial championships.
In the meantime, the Kenora Skating Academy sent seven figure skaters to the Thunder Bay Open over the weekend.
The club earned a number of medals including: Waverley Wiebe with 2 gold, and a silver, Claire Gauthier with silver medals.
Lauren Sharp had a gold and a bronze medal, Sydney Merlino earned a silver and a bronze medal, while Emma Godbout had bronze medal and Avery Desjarlais took home a gold medal and a bronze.
