An economic development conference will be taking place in Kenora this week.

The one-day gathering will be taking place at Seven Generations on Thursday.

Economic Development officer for the city, Allyson Pele says people from across the province and even Manitoba, are going to be there.

“We have delegates coming from all over northwestern Ontario and even some from southern Ontario,” says Pele.

“Many of these folks are economic development officers or work in the business development field.  We’re really excited.  We have about 50 people registered right now for the event.”

Pele adds that many of the guest speakers are from Kenora.

“Packed full of Kenora stories and inter-twined to all of that will be really great messaging about economic development and how communities can move themselves forward.”

Pele says the conference is sponsored by the Economic Development Council of Ontario and isn’t just limited to economic development officers, but people interest in growing the economy, like bankers, and chamber of commerce reps.

She says this is the first time such a conference has taken place west of Thunder Bay.
