A Kenora man has been fined $3,500 for illegally shooting a deer. Last December, Ralph Iverson was in his house, when he decided to shoot at a deer from his dining room window.

According to the conservation officer, the deer was standing on a driveway Iverson shares with his neighbour. The report says Iverson later field-dressed the deer behind his house, then disposed of the head and hide.

Justice of the Peace Robert McNally heard the case Tuesday in Kenora. Iverson pleaded guilty and was fined $3,000 for discharging a firearm without due care and consideration for people or property, and $500 for unlawfully possessing wildlife.

Iverson is also not allowed to hunt in Ontario for two years, and he must successfully complete the Ontario Hunter Education Course, before hunting in the province again.
