Things are beginning to move forward in Kenora now that our region of the province has moved into Stage 2 of reopening. Mayor Dan Reynard talked about moving into Stage 2.

"Basically we're starting to move forward. We continue to emphasize social distancing, hand washing, all those proper protocols," he said.

He added that we're taking our time.

"Things are moving forward slowly, but they're also moving forward in a positive manner," he said.

He said they're already planning and preparing for Stage 3, which will see the fitness centre reopen at the rec centre.

Unfortunately, Reynard said, there will not be summer ice at the Keewatin Arena this year, as the isolation centre won't be closing until July 31(assuming reopening remains on track for our region). He said the first ice rental in Keewatin likely won't be available until the second or third week in September.
