City of Kenora municipal representatives are at the Association of Municipalities convention in London.

On Monday they had three meetings with provincial cabinet ministers.

Mayor Andrew Poirier is leading the Kenora delegation at AMO

He says the had a meeting with the Minister of Long Term Care to see if the unincorporated areas can contribute to the Kenora District Homes for the Aged.

"I'm not bashing the unincorporated territories because they send their taxes to the government," explains Poirier.

"What we're asking is the money that is sent to the government, through their taxation, some of it goes towards long term care costs."

Poirier adds they also met with the Minister of Health about increasing local doctor fees and the Attorney General about policing costs.

In the meantime, provincial cabinet ministers are in high demand this week at the AMO conference in London.

Northern Development and Indigenous Affairs Minister Greg Rickford is one of those in attendance.

He says in addition to getting a wish list from towns and cities, it gives the ministers a chance to get an update on what's going on.

"It's also a time to check in on projects that we're making significant progress with.  Any issues related to them and trying to understand how we can turn them into opportunities."

The AMO conference wraps on Wednesday.
