Members of Kenora’s Special Olympics Team are heading to Thunder Bay this weekend.
Gary Sokolotuk is one of the coaches and says this is a qualifier for the Ontario Special Olympic Games in bowling and swimming.
“We’ve been training all year and in these last few weeks we’ve been pushing them…working them harder,” says Sokolotuk.
“They’re ready. They’re excited and I think they’ll do well.”
Sokolotuk adds the team is very supportive of each other, which is good to see.
“What is nice about the group is their very supportive of each other. So there is always somebody urging them on if they are struggling. Helping them. Being a good friend and supporter. A good fan when they are out there.”
This year they are being called the Hometown Games, and will take place on Saturday.
