The Kenora Sexual Assault Centre is inviting everyone to come together tonight to bring awareness of, and combat sexual violence with Take Back the Night.
Take Back the Night is a march, which began in the '70s focusing on the awareness of violence against women. Caitlin Letwiniuk, Community Liason with KSAC, says that focus has changed over the years.
"We're taking a different approach. We need to also include people of other gender identities as well. So this walk has extended not just to end violence against women, but to end all forms of sexual violence," she explains.
The march will begin at 5:00pm this evening (September 22) at the Whitecap Pavilion. Participants will walk from the Harbourfront to Husky the Muskie and back where snacks and beverages will be provided. Signage will also be provided by event coordinators for the walk.
Ahead of the march, they will host a safety and solidarity event at the Kenora Youth Hub at 4:00pm.
"The event is open to anyone regardless of your gender identity. We would love to see you come out and support us in our march to end sexual violence," Letwiniuk adds.
