The SIJHL has announced goaltender Paul Leferriere of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs has been named co-player of the week, along with Pierce Dushenko of the Ft. Frances Lakers, for the period ending Dec. 13.
Laferriere started his week by stopping 18 of 19 attempts in a 6-1 road decision against English River. The 19-year-old native of Wainright, Alta., then handled all 38 shots put on net to register his first SIJHL shutout Saturday at home against the Miners.
He sits second in average in the league at 2.52 and third with a .905 save mark.
The Ice Dogs next game is Friday, when they host Thunder Bay.
