The girls atom Rep Canucks returned from Thunder Bay with a second place finish in the Northern Girls Hockey League Battle at the Bay tournament this past weekend. The league is a newly-formed league for competitive girls’ hockey at the 8 and 9-year-old level.

The Canucks opened the tournament with a hard fought 4-1 loss to the DSA Snipers, who eventually beat the Canucks in the final on Sunday, as well. Saturday saw the Canucks beat the Ft. Frances Eagles 5-3, with Isabella Reynard adding a hat trick and an assist, while Sidney Gate and Annika Carlson-Booth added a goal each.

In Saturday night’s game against the host Thunder Bay Fury, the Canucks came out on top with a 2-0 win. Isabella Reynard and Cleo Bourgeois scored for the Canucks and Abby Waterson Alcock earned the shut-out.

Saturday also included a skills competition, where the Canucks beat out the three other teams to win the overall competition! Isabella Reynard won the individual agility competition, and Zoe Edwards won the individual sharpshooter competition.

“We were extremely proud of how hard the girls worked on the weekend, especially with a short bench!” said coach Ryan Reynard.
