A Liberal government in Ottawa would restore federal funding for the Experimental Lakes. This was one of the pledges made by nominee Bob Nault, as the party released its environmental platform earlier this week.
"The experimental lakes announcement in our environmental plan and our promotion of one of these major planks in our campaign, is that we're going to move beyond what the present government is doing on climate change," he said.
If elected, the party says they would restore $1.5 million in federal funding for freshwater research, which was cut by the Conservatives, and make new investments in Canada’s world-leading IISD Experimental Lakes Area.
