The Lake of the Woods District Hospital has announced the winner of their seventh draw of their 50/50 fundraiser.

Long-time friends Lani Sheldon and Greg Rapinda of Kenora have been supporting local lotteries together for nearly 15 years and their continuous support paid off when their lucky number (G-6973549) was drawn earning them a total of $98,920.

“Shut up, shut up, shut up!," said Sheldon when she received the call from the hospital foundation on Friday.

“I feel great about it going back to the hospital” says Rapinda and Lani having worked for 4 years as an RN on 2nd at LWDH understands the impact of supporting local healthcare. “Keeping equipment and services updated at the hospital is important so that people don’t have to travel to receive care”.

Rapinda says he is excited to add a new big screen tv to his home and possibly a new quad with a plow. Sheldon and her husband had been mulling around the idea of a new camper or looking into potential investments in Kenora, however their three young boys might have ‘other’ ideas in mind when they get home.
