Kenora OPP have charged a Newcastle, AB man after a police chase that started on Hwy 17. Shortly after 8:30 on Wednesday night OPP attempted to stop a vehicle but the vehicle began to increase speed making an obvious attempt to evade police. The vehicle continued eastbound on Hwy 17, then turned south onto Airport Road, out of the sight of police.  Within moments, police located the vehicle unoccupied in a driveway on Airport Road. A police records check indicated the Alberta plates had been reported stolen. Police saw a male subject running across Hwy 17 and into a wooded area. Police contained the area and called for a K9 unit to attend. The suspect was located at 11:25. As a result Steven Higgins, age 32, is now facing three charges.
