The Kenora Women's Soccer League is getting ready for the season as registration is taking place tonight. Athletes can register at Casey's on Lakeview Drive between 4:30 and 6:30. All levels are welcome and any questions can be directed to kenorawomenssoccer@gmail.com
Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov led the Lightning to a 5-3 win over the Maple Leafs, tying the series at a game apiece. Kucherov had a goal and two assists for Tampa Bay, which was coming off a 5-0 loss in the series opener.
Mike Smith bounced back with a 30-save shutout and the Edmonton Oilers blanked the L.A. Kings 6-0 in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series. Connor McDavid contributed a pair of assists for the Oilers, who evened the best-of-seven series at 1-1.
The Hurricanes have a two-games-to-none lead following a very chippy 5-2 win over the Bruins. As well, the Minnesota Wild evened up their first-round series with the St. Louis Blues at a game each with a 6-2 romp.
Another busy slate tonight in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Flames will back in action and looking to take a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Dallas Stars in Calgary. Calgary took Game 1 with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in the N-H-L post-season, the Penguins are in New York to take on the Rangers with Pittsburgh leading the series 1-0. The league-best Panthers will be looking to get back into their series when they host the Washington Capitals, with Florida trailing 1-0. The Colorado Avalanche will be trying to go up 2-0 as they entertain the Nashville Predators.
Fresh off a 2-1 victory over the Yankees that snapped New York's 11-game win streak, the Toronto Blue Jays are hitting the road again. They'll send Jose Berrios to the mound tonight for the first of four games against the Cleveland Guardians. The Jays have won 10 of their last 15 games.
