The Rainy River District is becoming an attractive area for junior mining companies to look for critical minerals like lithium.

Several have recently announced exploration plans for this year.

Ontario’s Mine’s Minister George Pirie is not surprised by the activity.

“No, not at all. We’re in the process right now of an EV revolution here in Ontario. We know that this is critically important to Ontario. They’re transforming the economy on the back of this,” says Pirie.

Pirie also attributes the Ring of Fire deposit for spurring the exploration interest in other parts of the province.

“The province has a billion dollars invested and committed to advancing the Ring of Fires opportunities that are there. So that sends a strong message to the junior sector that these minerals are important.”

The Mines Minister says Ontario is one of the best minerally endowed jurisdictions in the world.

“And naturally, exploration guys are looking at this and saying, hey, we never looked at this before, but we’re looking at it right now.”
