Firefighters from the Kenora MNR base are mopping up near Halley's Camp and Caribou Falls, after a brush fire. They've been protecting buildings at the camp, as well as working to contain the fire.

There have also been brush fires in the City of Kenora, as well as three near Dryden. One was in Wabigoon, while the other two were in Oxdrift.

Fire departments in the district are warning residents not to burn, as conditions in the woods are very dry.

Earlier this week, Kenora's fire chief, Warren Brinkman, explained how the ground is still frozen, which means spring runoff and rain aren't being absorbed into the ground, as they might at this time of year. This is leading to the drier than usual conditions.
