Staff with Kenora’s Ne-Chee Friendship Centre are working to lend a hand to those struggling with poverty and food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aboriginal Family Support worker Sunny Copenace explains that Ne-Chee has been working to collect and distribute emergency food hampers and baby products for anyone in need in the Kenora area.

“We’re providing food hampers, craft hampers for craft ideas and kits, we’re also providing baby need items like formula, wipes and baby food, and we’re also offering feminine hygiene products and just general hygiene products.”

Staff are delivering the much-needed supplies to residents’ doorsteps, and no financial information is required. Requests made by Tuesday at 4 p.m. will be delivered the same week.

Staff say those interested in the emergency food hamper services are asked to reach out to 807-407-1442, or Ne-Chee’s COVID-19 Facebook page.

Staff also have a contact line for baby items, craft supplies and hand hygiene products at 807-464-0585, or email
