The Northwestern Health Unit has received a report of a new positive case of COVID-19 in the Kenora area.

Follow up with the person involved and their contacts has started according to protocols, and anyone identified as a contact for this case will be contacted directly by NWHU staff.

Throughout their catchment area, the health unit is reporting 79 total cases of COVID-19 with three considered active. To date, northwestern Ontario has taken over 36,000 COVID-19 tests with a 0.2 per cent positivity rate.

The health unit continues to ask everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and to practice preventative health measures such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, washing your hands and staying home if you’re sick.
