No charges have been laid after a decapitated deer carcass was found in the Lake of the Woods Cemetery over the weekend.

Conservation Officers with the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry say they were contacted by the OPP about the deer carcass on November 18.

The MNRF says their investigation concluded that the deer was struck by a vehicle, its head was later removed, and its carcass was discarded at the cemetery. As a result, they say there are no suspected violations of Ontario’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

The OPP could not provide further information into the incident.
