The Ontario government has extended booking for COVID-19 vaccination appointments to people aged 70 and over for 11 additional public health units, which does not include the Northwestern Health Unit.

"It's still a function of supply and the Northwestern Health Unit is in queue with a slew of other health units that are outside the hot spots," says Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford.

The government has expanded eligibility in the higher risk health units. Currently, in the NWHU catchment area, those born in or before 1946, health care providers (if not vaccinated in their workplace), Indigenous adults, including Metis individuals, and adult home care recipients are currently able to book their first COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
