The Northwestern Health Unit has reported one new case of COVID-19 in the Sioux Lookout region.

Provincewide, 975 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday.

Follow up with the person involved and their contacts have started according to protocol. Anyone who is identified as a contact for this case will be contacted directly.

NWHU recommends that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face. Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested.

To date, there have been 434 confirmed and eight probable cases of COVID-19 reported in the region. 350 of the 442 total cases are listed as resolved. There are 82 active cases in the Kenora region, five active cases in the Sioux Lookout region, three active cases in the Dryden / Red Lake region, one active case in the District of Rainy River, and one death.
