The outbreak has been declared over at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

In consultation with the Northwestern Health Unit, leadership with the hospital has declared the outbreak, which began on March 6, over. 

In a prepared release, the hospital says that visitor restrictions will remain in place while the region in the Red/Control tier of the province's COVID-19 framework, with limited exceptions.

Limited exceptions may apply to end-of-life patients as well as other extenuating circumstances. Any exceptions will be determined by the unit manager or delegate.

At this time, outpatient services will start to resume. Any services that can be delivered virtually, will be, when possible.

The outbreak was declared on March 6, when two patients tested positive for COVID-19. The following day, the outbreak grew to 10 paitents but didn't expand further as the hospital created an isolated COVID-19 ward and began widespread testing of staff and patients.
