Nickolas Fagnilli and Jett Mintenko score and Gunner Paradis stopped 45 shots, but it wasn't enough for the Kenora U18 AAA Thistles (2-23-1) losing 5-2 to the Winnipeg Wild (21-2-2) Friday night.

Kenora got on the board just over halfway into the game as Nickolas Fagnilli was able to find the back of the net for his twelfth goal of the season. Jett Mintenko and Branden Boress picked up the assists.

Minutes later the Wild's Logan Belton was sprung on a breakaway and was able to beat Paradis to tie the game 1-1

After 20 minutes the Wild heavily outshot the Thistles 13-6.

The second period was controlled by the Wild firing many shots on Paradis but the Thistles were up to the challenge. At the 13:42 mark of the second period, Mintenko was able to outwait the goalie and backhand the puck in on the Thistles only shot of the period. Nickolas Fagnilli and Teagan Wrolstad added assists on the goal.

Winnipeg had an answer just about three minutes later after Noah Dziver got a pass in the slot and was put it upstairs to tie the game once again 2-2.

Shots in the second period were 15-1 for the Wild.

The third period was tied until the 12:30 mark as the Wild's Keefe Gruener put a loose puck home past the Thistles netminder that would eventually be the game-winner.

The Wild would add one more and an empty-net goal to make the final 5-2.

The shots in the third period were 22-3 in favour of Winnipeg.

Paradis made 45 saves in the loss, while Nicolas Rempel was less busy stopping 8 shots in the win.

A quick turnaround for the Thistles as they will get set to welcome the Parkland Rangers (14-9-3) for a pair of games Saturday and Sunday.

The puck drop for Saturday's game is 7:30 p.m., while Sunday's game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
